Our Rector

Fr. Steve White

Fr. Steve previously served as Priest in Charge at St. Paul's Episcopal Church, in Kingsport, TN, from March 2015 till June this year. Before that he served as Curate at St. James Episcopal Church, Knoxville, TN, from June 2013- March 2015.

Fr. White’s formal training started at The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga, Chattanooga, TN: Bachelor of Science in Psychology, received 1985. Then he attended The University of Tennessee at Knoxville, Knoxville, TN; Master of Business Administration in Marketing and Finance, received 1988. And then he went to The University of the South, School of Theology, Sewanee, TN; Master of Divinity 2013.

In his own words, Fr. Steve says this: ”Born and bred Southerner, raised in Chattanooga. Lived a couple of years, though, in Michigan, working for Dow Chemical. I love gardening and canning, along with raising bees (they do most of the hard work). When I’m not working in the yard, I love traveling by taking the back roads and just heading in a general direction and stopping at local attractions (best stop so far is “The Elvis is Alive Museum”). I am a non-gourmet cook and make good Southern food. I am a book hound, especially regarding Ancient Roman and Medieval English history. I prefer jazz and folk but nothing too earnest. I also love to can veggies, etc. Need to find out how to garden up north. I have no clue what growing seasons are like.

Never, in a million years, did I ever think I'd be living in New York. But that's how God rolls.”
